Painting Kitchen Cabinets

I hate the colour of my Kitchen Cabinets. They are in good condition so I was looking at the option of painting the Cabinets and changing the handels to get something more to my taste.
I have discovered that there is Special paint for Kitchen Cabinets and a primer should be used first but I was wondering how this actually turns out. I am worried that they will be streaming and look really amateur. I read that spraying the cabinets is the best option but I don't have space for spraying so I will have to paint the with a brush.

Has anyone done this and can let me know how it turned out? I'm hoping to sell in the next 2 years so don't want a big inversion but also don't want to end up with something crappy that will put buyers off.

I had my cabinets in a previous house painted professionally and would recommend getting it done. I wasn’t confident enough to paint them myself so paid to have them done right…..very pleased with the results and it made such a difference to the whole kitchen.

My grandma had it done professionally and it looked good but I can't seem to find anyone local who offers it. Was a specialised company you had or did you approach a normal painter and decorator?

We had ours professionally painted about two years ago. We went with a joiner who did spray painting on the side. We put our house on the market about three weeks ago and sold to the first viewer.

These guys do what you're after. I've never used them but heard great things

We painted ours and they look great. I think it depends what sort of unit you have. Ours are a shaker style, they are solid wood with and MDF centre.
I used a standard wood undercoat and an eggshell finish on them. I used a standard mini roller.
I took my time and did 2 or 3 at a time, leaving them to cure properly before putting them back on.
It's transformed the kitchen and cost very little

Thanks for the feedback. I think a roller is probably a better option than a brush if I want to avoid streaks.

I might do one door and see how it looks before doing the rest.

I did our kitchen myself when we moved in to a new house. The kitchen cabinets and drawers were solid wood though, so I think that helped get a nice finish as the wood texture/grain is still visible.
I did two thin coats of primer, then two thin coats of paint on top. All done painstakingly slowly, with a mini roller on the flat areas, and a small brush on the edges and indented sections. The finish is amazing, and three years later it still looks as good as new.
it was quite a slog to do it all (big kitchen, so lots of units), but well worth the effort.
