Wet timber!

We have started our loft conversion, yesterday the timber joists were delivered and the builder has left them in garden. This wouldn't worry me but it has been raining constantly and now all the joists are soaking wet!
He says it's fine and he can still install them up in loft tomorrow BUT I'm worried about damp and mould, also I'm assuming the wood has expanded when wet and will shrink again when dry which will cause issues I'm assuming.

Can anyone shed some light on this as I feel he's using my naivety to spin rings round me!

If you watch any house renovation show on tv they are always wet

Wet wood will be fine, Its more difficult to cut when it wet but thats about it.

Shouldn't be a problem, likely tanalised timber so resistant to absorbing too much moisture and resistant to mould.
If not tanalised, the timber although wet won't be badly affected unless they've stayed wet for quite a long time, it will be surface wet, not penetrated all through, so will dry quickly and won't be very swollen.
Once in... ventilate well until dry to prevent any possible mould issues which can occur when something stays damp for prolonged periods.

But you're not being taken for a ride.
