House Hunting - Moving from London to Epsom-

Hi there,

My husband and I are looking to move to Epsom, We currently live in Ealing, West London.
We both work from home and therefore we need more space and we don’t need to live in London.
Epsom is perfectly located for us, quick to get into London and Clapham Junction, close enough to Gatwick, it has a town center, hospital, good schools, restaurants, cinema and the countryside all around.
We don’t know the area very well. We went to see few houses around College area last weekend.
Next Saturday we are going for more house viewings. The properties are located between the Wells Estate and Long Grove Park.
How is that area of Epsom? is the Wells Estate a bit isolated?
any tips or suggestions are welcome.
Thank you

Cant comment on the areas specifically in terms of living but I would check the school catchment areas for the houses. Glyn (boys) and Roseberry (girls) are rated outstanding but Blenheim I would personally avoid. If you are looking for independent schools then of course catchment areas don't matter.
Epsom is where I grew up, I hope to move back there soon. The location in incredible. High street etc is a bit "meh" but it is getting better.

Also grew up in the area- it's lovely, a really great all round place to live.

Wells Estate is right on the common which is beautiful- it's very well connected by roads, so assuming you drive you'll be fine. Still lots of pubs and restaurants etc nearby.

My parents still live there and I visit about once a fortnight- the town centre is improving as PP said, although tbh its always been quite nice. The traffic in town is getting worse, quite often at gridlock most of the day- so I'd avoid anywhere too central to town anyway.

Thank you @nomchonge1 and @sweetpickle2 for your suggestions and tips about school catchment areas.
We have been there very often lately and the high street is not too bad. It looks like new shops and restaurants opened recently and there are more to come.
Picturehouse cinema is opening soon, which is my actual local cinema in Ealing, so I am excited about that and I haven’t moved to Epsom yet 😂!
