I am living in the 80's or I am right to be shocked at being quoted £50K for a 6 metre square extension? This price excludes VAT and doesn't include the cost of the flooring and the utility room furniture. It also doesn't include the £10K it has cost for plans and planning permission?! It's the first quote I have received so I am hoping the other two might be more realistic......When we did building work 20 years ago the same project cost my £5K (and we were in London at the time).

The first builder did want the work but also wanted the make a lot more money.

Those prices are about what you are going to pay , but its still 5 grand a m2 which to me is still crazy.

I agree 6 metre square extension to me means a square extension with 6m long sides, ie, 6m x 6m.

£10k for a planning application submission? Please tell me that also includes the building standards drawings.

Given that you've paid £10,000 to get some pictures of an extension, paying just five times that for the real thing doesn't sound so bad! 😉
