Need some advice on protocol and appropriateness. I am in the final stages of selling my property, and there are a couple of appliances in there, good condition. I don't need to take them with me as the house we are buying already has appliances left behind by the owner. Is it ok for me to ask the property buyers if they want to buy these appliances off me, or is it better to sell them second hand? I wonder what is the right thing to do? I'm feeling awkward as I wonder whether it looks a bit cheap to ask for money, or is it completely ok to do this. all advice appreciated!

It’s perfectly normal to ask for money, although I’m planning on leaving mine for free unless they shaft me for any late negotiations.

Thanks - good plan! Easier to leave the appliances behind as it's such a hassle to move them out.

Yeah once we get to exchange I’m going to send them a list of things I’m not taking and see if they want them, otherwise I’ll stick them on the local Facebook page. Our seller has already confirmed they’re leaving us their appliances.

In England You have to list them on the TA10 form saying what you will take what you will leave and how much you want for them.
This has to be sent to your solicitor and then over to the buyer. It's part of the package sent to buyers

Our buyer was absolutely delighted we asked if she wanted to buy our fridge/freezer and cooker, so go ahead and ask.

We asked our buyer if she wanted the fridge freezer and she said yes please so we left it for her, she then said if we hadn't got rid of the washer and dryer and didn't want the bother of moving it all she'd be happy if we left it. So she got them too and the four poster bed frame and an oak computer desk. All of which I had for sale online for cheap with no takers, so she got the lot. As we were moving countries and couldn't take any of it, it was good for us too.

Did the buyer pay for these things?

Not ours didn't. She was really doing me a favour not that I let her know this It would have cost me money to have them taken away and to have a charity pick up would have taken too long as we already had flights booked.
I had them for sale cheap, but not for long as we were using them till we left, so giving them to her was a great help. Most of my friends left things like Fridge freezers and washers and dryer behind when moving. Too big/heavy to move.

Second hand white goods aren't worth much money in the context of a house sale - are you really going to try and get and extra £50/£100 for a fridge when you're selling the house for £200k?

I think if it's integrated it's generally assumed to be part of the sale, unless otherwise specified on the form.
