Waste water drain overflows with sewage

the waste water drain at the back of my house overflows with sewage when we have heavy rain. Last time it happened I called out our water company, they came to look and said it wasn’t their responsibility. The drain ends in my garden and covers at least mine and our attached neighbours.

we have called people out to rod the drains before and they haven’t found any blockages.

Is there anything at all I can do to stop it overflowing onto my patio? It’s got a light plastic cover over it at the moment, under that it’s just a hole.

we’re at the end of a run and as the neighbours drain doesn’t overflow then it’s our responsibility (this is what the water company said) and ties in with the document linked above.

i’ll try house insurance, I haven’t done that yet.

Fingers are crossed for you. Blocked/bad/backed up drains are horrible.

It’s revolting, luckily only usually happens once or twice a year. 🤢
