Timber front door wooden door for London Terrace

I've looked at Reclamation yards and have had quotes from the big guys London door company Banham, Ayerton - and for one reason or another those options aren't working for us. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone to make a bespoke timber front door & frame for a London terrace house that won't cost the earth? Please, please?

I bought a front wooden door from Wicks - it was about £200. Got the handyman to shave bits off/hang it/paint it. It looks great.

Following as this is something im looking into too…

Out of interest, why would the london door company be SO much more than eg Geleta (sp)?
11k vs 1.2k seems mad?!

London door company is an end to end service, they do the measuring and fitting etc. Truly bespoke. They use different wood. You are also paying for the convenience.

Geleta is essentially a Mail order company. You give them measurents and they manufacture/cut to size. They can also spray paint for a fee.

Hi @Fretfulmum oh that's the door I was looking at. It does look very nice at our neighbours house. What colour did you have it painted?

I was going to suggest Gelata Doors too, but the quality of the fit is as important as the door itself, so you still need to have a carpenter you really trust to do a good job.

@DryIce oh lucky you! Was it from a reclamation place?

FB marketplace or gumtree, keep an eye out! They'd only had this door put in about 5 years ago and wanted a change so worked out well for me

There's a place in Penge that does wooden doors - have heard good things and we're planning to go there. They either have ready made combinations at what seem like reasonable prices or you can go more bespoke. They do their own stained glass on site so you pick a design and specify the colours which is what we'd like to do.

I got a quote back from International Windows Group for £2,750 + vat & £300 for fitting. I'll keep you updated as other quotes come in if someone else if also looking. Thank you everyone for your recommendations, I'm going to try every one of them!

Also late to the thread but this guy made a lovely bespoke wooden door for us in 2020. Was approx £2k all in then. I suspect would be more now but still great value.

We got a back door and a side door from here:

I just wanted timber and not composite even though it was more expensive and harder to fit.

They are not Victorian as such but quite classic.
