I was wondering if anyone can give me the pros and cons of moving to poole, with 2 little ones, looking to start one in school next year ideally we would like a great community, friendly, local amenities shops cafes etc great schools within walking distance. it would be great to get some input from people who know the area and can advise of the nice places to live and the places to avoid. I did read a few posts from 2022 wondering if there is any change on these areas
nice places - white cliff, lilliput, Ashley cross, lower park stone
avoiding - Rossmore, west hove, Turin more upper parkstone? anything south of Ashley road is nice ?

It's Turlin Moor and West Howe (which is actually Bournemouth)...
No change in your areas. Canford Heath used to be OK, but I've heard of feral gangs of kids around there now.
I have friends who live in various OK parts of Poole and Bournemouth, but I live out of town over to the west - so I can recommend Wareham or Sandford as nice places to live! There is a decent bus and train service right into the centre of Poole.
The only experience I have of Poole schools are the grammars - DS went to Poole Grammar and DD went to Parkstone - living out of Poole you can apply to these schools but have to provide your own transport to get kids there.

I second the above posters recommendation of avoiding Canford Heath. I add to that to avoid bits of Creekmoor, Oakdale, Alderney and Sterte.
You could add some parts of Broadstone which are good and Branksea Av and Lulworth Av in Hamworthy are ok.
Poole has all the facilities you need but you won't be bothering with the high street after a couple of visits. Bournemouth high streets a little better but not much.

Lilliput is the best of the areas you mention but short on facilities.

Thank you that’s good to know. I will have a look at some of the areas are there any other nice places to live that don’t cost the earth in around that surrounding area with amenities good primary schools ? Just want to make sure we’re doing the right move

I think housing budget will dictate where you end up as it varies quite a lot.

If you want cheaper then either 'rougher areas' (which imo still don't rival inner city rough areas) or further inland

They are tall brown things with green leaves coming at the top. In the autumn they shed spiked nuts in large quantities.

The alternatives for the grammar schools are not great and you can buy in a very expensive area but find yourself in the catchment for very poor schools.

we moved out of Poole and while I still miss the beaches I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back. The traffic congestion is horrific. There are levels of social deprivation in some areas that rival any inner city area (although these areas are easily avoided). But there is antisocial behaviour in places like the bus station, Poole Park etc. while you might not be using the bus in the immediate future, your children might want to in their teens.
