Panelling to ceilings ??

I live in a chalet bungalow. The upstairs is divided into 2 bedrooms with small ensuites. The ceilings in the bedrooms follow the shape of the roof. (Sorry the correct terminology eludes me) When I moved into the house I used to sleep in one of the bedrooms upstairs (now sleep in the bedroom downstairs) but when it rained heavily I would hear the rain loud and clear. What can I do to limit the noise, as well as potentially insulate the rooms more. Is panelling an option ??? Sort of like this picture (my room is considerably smaller !!!)

I would put insulation between the rafters and then board over them. You may well need a vapour barrier / venting in there too depending on your roof construction.

Thanks unsync, there is a ceiling there already so no rafters as such.

As it is a chalet bungalow I wondered if adding panelling would make it any more sound proofed or warmer....is this feasible ? ... is adding insulation ...and/or a vapour barrier on an already established ceiling the right way to go or would I need to rip it back to the rafters and start again?

Esswntially would adding panelling alone be advisable, practical, or add any benefit at all ?

I don't think panelling would do much for insulation, unless you put a layer of insulation and then the panelling.
