Borough Green in Kent - what's it like?

We have a max budget of £650k for a 4 bed and would love somewhere in Kent that is:

  • Ok to commute to the City
  • in catchment for grammars but doesn't put all our eggs in the grammar basket (our kids are young so who knows!)
  • somewhere we would enjoy living (we're currently in London and really fed up of the dog shit, litter and general sense of everything going down the toilet)

Borough Green house prices are great but that's always for a reason. What's the unvarnished truth???

And any other suggestions?

@Boroughgreenq this popped up on my feed. Where did you move to in the end?

I've lived in Borough Green for 9yrs and it's wonderful. I have also lived in Otford, Kemsing, and Sevenoaks Town. I absolutely love Borough Green and agree with all the lovely things people on here have said about it.

As other said, have a look at surrounding areas. Tonbridge is good and you can definitely find a 4-bed in that budget. Lots of good schools, including grammars. Direct train links to London bridge.

The only negative on borough Green, is that if your kids don’t get into grammar, they are in the catchment for wrotham school which is absolutely awful.

Borough Green over West Malling, any day. WM is rowdy over the weekends particularly in the summer, I live on the outskirts of WM it really isn’t great.
