Wooden floors

Hi - we have had awful painters come in and I've now found these marks on our brand newly restored wooden floors. When I wipe them the mark goes but then comes back when dry. Any ideas? Thank you.

Suspect varnish has been worn away where they've cleaned up paint marks. Try a bit more varnish to even it out.

So if I get the same varnish that the floor company used can I just dab it over the white patches?

Is the mark paint? Or scrubbing off paint taking off the surface? Gently sand off paint and re-varnish again gently so it matches in, wipe over but not too much and blend in at the edges.

I don't think it's paint because it disappears when I wipe it but then comes back?! I think it could be paint that has gone right into the grit of the wood

Can't be paint otherwise it wouldnt disappear when you wipe it.
It might be a water stain or where they've spilt something that has affected the varnish.
You could try the iron trick. Basically put an iron on a wool setting. Tea towel over the mark and work away with the iron for a few minutes.
Have a little look through online videos from people who restore Ercol furniture for other methods.
