What does ‘mortgage application received’ mean?

We are porting part of our mortgage and then taking a new mortgage for the remainder.

Have had emails today that the mortgage application has been received and that if we are an existing customer switching to a new deal, take this as confirmation the product change has been accepted and no further info is required.

Does this mean only for the part of the mortgage that is being ported?

We also had an email confirming the booking of the valuation appointment of the property.

Does this all mean it’s approved?

“Does this mean only for the part of the mortgage that is being ported?”

It doesn’t apply to you at all. It’s a lazy message designed to cover multiple situations. You’re not an existing customer switching to a new deal / remortgaging. You’re an existing customer moving your existing deal to a new property. It means exactly what it says - that your application has been received.

”Does this all mean it’s approved?”

Did you do the application online or over the phone? We did ours over the phone, had our affordability checks all approved and the valuation was the last box to tick. It’s hard to answer without knowing what process you’ve been through.

Edit: by ‘we did ours’ I mean our application to port and borrow more. In our case it was all approved pending valuation. But it’s hard to know for you without knowing what other interactions you’ve had.
