Buyers suddenly want money

I was meant to exchange on Friday. My buyers asked via my estate agent if they could come round with a double glazing person to get some quotes. I was really against this, as I am packing & in a real mess. My estate agent said I had to let them come round as they were my buyers. This was on Monday, and then on Friday they send a quote for £700 via my estate agent say there are some windows misted up and it needs to be resolved!
I am totally against giving them any money, they have been to my property 3 times & the price of the property reflects the window condition & they offered £5k off the asking price which I accepted

Say no for sure.

senua · 24/04/2024 08:54

It's like the woman who swallowed a fly Grin
He got a free survey off the double glazing bloke.
Which got him £375 off the price of the house.
Which he spent on an electrical survey.
Which got him £1,000 off the price of the house.
Which he spent on a subsidence report.
Which got him £5,000 off the price of the house
etc etc

You'll end up giving it to them for free, just to make it all stop.😂

Now the buyers have requested an electricity inspection which is happening tomorrow
Why!!!!????? Have you not learned your lesson?

How have they managed to arrange this at such short notice. How long will it take to get the report back.

Once they asked that, I'd definitely re-list. And have a stern talk with the EA while I was at it..

I find this highly suspect too. You have to FIGHT to get tradesmen round to inspect and quote, let alone for a house you don't even own yet.

MissJenn · 24/04/2024 15:10

Yes it is suspicious, maybe a friend or family member in the trade. I’d say no, obviously trying to reduce price.

viques · 24/04/2024 15:47

Shame that if they keep whittling the price down you won’t be able to afford the professional deep clean or the welcome to your new home champagne and flowers you were planning.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 24/04/2024 15:58

Nonsense. They and their surveyor could have seen blown double glazing ten feet away on any of their multiple visits. Plus how big are these windows for £700?

No more inspections, exchange Friday or it goes back on the market Saturday.

GalaxyAddict · 24/04/2024 17:02

The Electrical inspection took place, he told me I should tell then to 'get stuffed' about the windows. He said I could do with a new fuse box, just because of the age of the current one, but it's not urgent and if they try and get some money off for it, tell them no!

Still not heard from the solicitor, they were chasing the buyers solicitor about exchanging on Friday -just fed up of this now, I wish I could just tell the buyers to get stuffed, but I can't!

Hopefully you’re really close to the end now @GalaxyAddict & just have to be patient a little longer….

Hi @GalaxyAddict just came across your post. Did you end up exchanging? What happened?

GalaxyAddict · 22/04/2025 11:06

Yes, thankfully I did eventually exchange and I moved on 20th May 2024
