Hi
I'm planning to move to either Bexleyheath (Nursery ave, lavernock road)or Welling/Blackfen (around Danson park) can you please advise if this is a nice safe place?
We have a 2.5 girl and obviously also taking into consideration schools etc.
Is st Thomas More a good school? Thank you for any advice

Hi I’m in bexleyheath between those two areas. I think they are both fine, the town centre can be busy when schools kick out / at night time but honestly I’ve seen nothing unsafe. Don’t know st Thomas more school. Danson Park is lovely I go there a lot, used to take DD when she was younger, definitely safe.

Hi,
I'm in Bexleyheath, not far from Nursery Avenue. We've been here 4 years and love it. We're actually moving soon but only a couple of streets away.
We have a 20 month old and we've never had any issues. I feel very safe in the area and there's lots of activities for toddlers.
I don't know St Thomas Moore, we're aiming for Upland Road for our little one and we've only heard good things.
Danson Park is lovely, we go there often but for us is too far from the town centre as we walk everywhere. Would still consider living there, though, depending on the street. Blacken is a bit more out of hand and we'd need to rely more on the bus, so it depends on your personal circumstances.
Nothing against Welling but budget allowing, I would always go for Bexleyheath. I just find it nicer.

Thank you @Novavee that's very helpful! I will check Upland Road school as well :) I don't drive so will be mostly walling as well so Bexleyheath with the shops looks like a good idea. Do you know if Long Lane is a busy road? I love Danson park, we have been there few times in between viewings :)
Good luck with your move! I hope we will be soon as well!

@Sabblue
I know Long Lane well. I spent part of my maternity leave walking up and down from where it meets Woolwich road all the way to Brampton Road pushing the buggy for my LO to sleep 😁

It is busy and some intersections can be tricky but it has nice bits and some lovely side roads. I prefer the section towards Brampton Road or the little side streets towards Bursted Woods which are quieter (also heard good things about that Primary). There's also Russell Park not far from Lavernock Road and at the end of Nursery Ave with good space to run around and a playground. We end up going there more often than Danson due to the proximity.

I was actually after the area near Russel Park. We went there on Saturday. The road was very busy but I hope at night it gets quieter. Upland primary indeed looks good! thank you for this. Are you able to recommend any nursery nearby? I'm so worried we won't find a space anywhere :( we didn't find a house yet so can't apply. My little one is 2.5 . Thank you! x

Bexleyheath itself is nicer than Blackfen or Welling

@Sabblue my little one goes to New Foundations on Church Road. She settled really well (moved from another nursery not in Bexleyheath) and is well attached to the team. They have external providers that do activities she seems to really engage with (judging by the photos on the app) and when it's time to go home her usual reply is "No. More", as in, she wants to stay longer and play some more, so I take that as a really good sign and try not to get middle annoyed she doesn't seem to want to go home with me!.

Sabblue · 22/04/2024 20:56

@Novavee haha I would be crying as well :D but that sounds so good thank you! I had a look and Monkey Puzzle, looked good, better than busy bees but I will have a look at yours as well. I'm just worried no one will have spaces! so far don't have a house so can't do much
My little one is at Montessori type nursery now as she loves it as well, it feels like family so will be hard to take her out :( so far I have not seen similar around here

Hi, I'm hoping to move to Bexley borough next year. I'm currently in Dartford which is a little rough around the edges and services for children with SEND are appealing. I'm hoping to purchase a house (budget around £425K). Is Sidcup a decent and well connected area? I have a child with special needs. Any recommended schools or suggestions about other areas in the borough are welcome. Thanks in advance.
