Moving to Doncaster - Good School Areas

Hi all,

We are planning to move to Doncaster from London and to rent a 3 bedroom house.

We have 3 children and one will be needing closeby secondary school and primary and nursery that are very good and diverse for black heritage.

A good school catchment area is what we want.
We both work from home so job is not a problem.

Our budget is £1000
Which areas would you recommend?

Please share school names and postcodes too

Thank you!

Ex resident of 1 of the naice areas south of central Doncaster. I would not move to the Doncaster area for a gold pig , it is NOT a diverse area AT ALL. The schools are not very good either, even to South of Doncaster. The trouble with the nicer areas is that they are generally surrounded by rougher estates and the rougher areas like to have great big piss up nights out in the nicer villages causing trouble 👿. Would say go for Sheffield or Dronfield, or areas around Chesterfield but rentals are like gold dust and £1000 a month won’t go far, especially in a decent area.

My professional advice to anyone considering moving to Doncaster, is to check for potential flooding. There are some very cheap areas of housing Donny, which will coincide with these.

Best schools in S10,S11 and S17.

These areas are all hideously expensive.

Then s6 and 8

I'd avoid lots of S8 tbh. Lowedges can be rough, and although nicer Beauchief and Greenhill aren't exactly diverse. Not that you'll get much for 1000 pm anyway. Woodseats is a better bet. Or nether edge in S7. Walkley and Hillsborough in S6 are nice though and probably better value.

I was thinking Meersbrook and Heeley in S8. They are in S8 aren’t they?

Yes, but S8 is huge. And meersbrook can be pretty pricey. Heeley might be a good shout, but again some bits of it are better than others.

Yeah. Nether Edge could be an option, you’re right. Expensive though!
