We are thinking of moving to Stoke and surrounding areas and we’re wondering what areas are better to be in for a family of 4 (kids are 2 and 3).

im looking for safety then schools, we know the area a little as we are only 40 mins away.

TIA

Alsager is definitely Cheshire. I know exactly where the border is.

Mow Cop on the other hand, split down the middle.

For years Trentham liked to think it was in Newcastle but it never has been !!!!!!

I don't think so. Why would someone living a nice place like Trentham want to be associated with Newcastle? I work in Newcastle and its not a nice place.

Newcastle under Lyme was always seen as poster on the whole than Stoke on Trent in terms of local authority areas.

Another vote for cheadle staffs, painsley is a very good school, surrounding areas nice as well.

I'd go a bit further out and live in Nantwich, if I were you.

Avoid the towns like Fenton, Longton, Hanley, Cobridge, Bentilee, Meir, Tunstall. I lived in Stoke on Trent for 30 years and my parents still live in Stoke on Trent but a more desirable area than the areas listed above. The best areas are:-

Trentham - great location and people of Trentham like to say there are part of Newcastle and not Stoke on Trent but they are under Stoke Council.

Milton - Nice little village a few miles from Hanley, has primary school and nearby high schools, has shops galore in the little high street

Baddeley Green - Just up the road from Milton, also has some good schools nearby

Stockton Brook - Few miles from Milton and you would then be in between Hanley and Leek

Norton and Norton Green - Good schools and local shops in the vicinity

Brown Edge - More rural village, shops, school and nice pubs - close to Leek

Endon - is more upmarket village and where I lived for some time- few shops, pubs and good schools inc high school

Hope this helps!

@AlwaysGrateful

I agree with all the above. Wonder if I know you!

I used to live in Baddeley Green but just moved to Norton Heights.

Both my children went to primary school in Brown Edge then to Endon High.

I'm originally from Biddulph (which is a small town that borders Cheshire) this too is another nice area and you can get into Congleton and Macclesfield easily from Biddulph.

I wonder where the OP ended up?

Meir is very picturesque with thatched cottages and sandy beaches. You can leave your doors unlocked. The schools are fantastic. With many students going to oxford and cambridge. Meir is only a stones throw from longton a very upbeat swanky area with fantastic nightlife. The strand is filled with theatres and nightclubs. Plenty of resturants. Always lots to do and see. Everyday feels like you are on holiday when you live here. 5 stars

Borderline South Stoke towards Stone: Meir Heath, Moddershall, Hilderstone, Fulford. What is your property budget and what kind of area do you want to live in?

What about Meir ?? Next to St Austine's Catholic Academy is nice area to live with kids?? I really appreciate your opinion. Thanks
