Found stuff from other flats in our kitchen cupboards

Moved into a 1 bed part furnished rental for a short time (6m) whilst waiting for a house purchase. It's one of three newly refurbished flats in a Victorian house, all owned by the same landlord, all refurbished at the same time. We're the last to move in.

It seems as if all the cutlery, crockery, glassware, pans from the three flats has been dumped in our kitchen and there's no space in the cupboards or drawers for anything we own, including food.
We were expecting only one set to be in our kitchen cupboards - this is fine as all our things are in storage. I guess the other tenants didn't want it all. I doubt they had access to our flat to dump it in there before we moved in though.

Estate agent not being helpful and saying just box up the extra stuff and keep it somewhere, but it's a small flat and there's no room at all. Landlord says the same - we might not be there long so just keep it.

DH is saying to just chuck it out or leave it in the communal area. What should we do? There's loads of extra stuff!

If it's on the inventory check in report you will need to keep it or risk losing part of your deposit. Can you not box it up and put it in your storage unit then return it before your check out report?

Box it up and bring it into the estate agent.

Agree with @Cosmosforbreakfast box up the other two sets, make a list of what's in the box and take it to the letting agent, email them post to say what you've done should the landlord ever ask.

Sod that.

The inventory doesn't specify how many we have of each; it just says side plates, dinner plates, bowls, then cutlery as a blanket term. DH is counting now. We currently have 46 small sized plates, 17 dinner plates, 12 bowls, 23 glass tumblers, around 15 teaspoons, that's just a example. Our furniture isn't stored locally, it's nearer our new property and it would take six rather large boxes to pack up all the extra stuff we seem to have acquired.

Yes, I think we'll box it all up and give it to the estate agent.

That's ridiculous. Take what you'll find useful, and get the rest boxed and in the car and drop it with the agent, jokers.

Anything over and above your inventory that you don't want and is taking up space, box it up and dump it in the estate agent's office.

You are not paying rent so someone else can store their belongings in your flat.

It's strange as everything else in the flat is as expected. It's just this mass of kitchen crap...

We can take it to the EA on Friday. Good idea to email them as well.
