Moving to a more expensive rental? WWYD

Currently renting a nice but a bit dated one bedroom flat. Landlord has said the rent will go up from £1,500 a month to £1,750.

We work from home 1/2 days a week. Have seen a super nice 1 bedroom flat with a separate study for £2,300.

We can manage without the study. More room would obviously be nice. The more expensive flat is walking distance to work so we would save £200 on commuting costs.

Depends on the rest of your life too really. Are you saving for a mortgage? How old are you? Can you afford it?

Have you tried counter offering to the current Landlord ? A 17% increase is a big jump. Why don't you offer a smaller increase first. They may or may not accept but its worth trying.

Landlord said that they won’t make any profit if rent isn’t increased to the level they asked

I would move then, the Landlords debt problems are not for you to fund.
