Hi, if you are actively looking for a new property to purchase on rightmove which of the below do you do -

A) search daily at new listing added in the last 24 hours
B) search by entering price high to low, bedroom min to max and a post code/area

thanks

Neither. I have an email alert set up so I find out when a new property fitting my search criteria is added.

kind of a bit of both

search 'town' daily, sort newest first.

theres so little coming on the market, I'd rather see everything.

"theres so little coming on the market, I'd rather see everything"

True but supply seems to increasing notably this week. Rightmove have just reported that :

"There were 45% more homes added to Rightmove on Thursday March 28 than on the previous Thursday"

Certainly in my area we have a lot of new listings but many of them seem to be ignoring Rightmoves suggestion that pricing is still very sensitive. The majority of the new stuff I looked at over the weekend is still overpriced. But at least it looks like more choice and competition between sellers seems to be coming.

It's option a for me - I search daily within my radius filtered on the last 24 hours! I like to see everything added within my area, regardless of price (because sometimes the right move price is so misjudged that if I filtered on it I'd miss out on seeing some potential properties!).

When I was looking I had an alert set up but would also search daily because the alert didn’t fire fast enough (sometimes not even the same day things came on). Not in the ways you described though. I’d search for postcode, number of bedrooms and max price (never saw the point of adding a min) and sort from newest to oldest. I never filtered on the last 24 hours as I wanted to see everything together.

'B'
because a property may be reduced and now be within my budget.

Imustgoforarun · 05/04/2024 08:04

When I first looked it was on price. Now it’s the 24 hr search.

TheNoonBell · 05/04/2024 08:04

I have severa;l searches bookmarked, one for type B and then one for my local area just to see what is going on.

Not even looking for a house but love seeing what comes on.

IPartridge · 05/04/2024 08:18

I search far more often than just daily!

ParsonsPont · 05/04/2024 08:22

It’s both.

For the very first time I looked, I searched for budget, rooms and area. And then I looked at them in order of date of listing.

Then those criteria would be saved for me, and I would search every few days to see if anything new was added since my last browse.

I search for the area I want only- I don’t stipulate price or number of rooms as you never know what is available that might be perfect after a few tweaks! And the prices drop quite regularly around our area, so what might have been out of reach may suddenly become affordable. I also go over and over the floor plans, street view and pictures on houses so I don’t just search for new to the market. I like to be thorough before I make a decision to view!
