Glass pendants above an island … am I going to regret this?

So, I’ve bought 3 x metal pendants, but I’ve found some really nice blackened glass ball pendants which I’m tempted to buy instead (and get money back on the metal ones).

Kitchen is about to be fitted and electrician is coming in the next few days.

My heart says glass but my head is saying I will regret constant cleaning?

No hob or sink on our island, but will be steam from dishing up.

Does anyone have glass and if so, how much of a nightmare is the cleaning?

Much prefer the metal ones. I think glass would be ok cleaning wise as not near a hob, but a colder more modern/minimal look than the metal ones.

What I had fitted in my kitchen last week. I went for clear glass as its a dark room. I do love them but no definately not looking forward to keeping them bright & clean & yes I have to be careful not to walk into them but worth it imho

...& yes the sparky who fitted them has been asked to come back & readjust the hang on the pendant that's hanging slightly lower lol

I have glass lights right above our island, including hob. Not sure if because scalloped glass, but so far these have been absolutely fine and not a bother to clean since our Reno finished in December, don’t ever even look dirty to be honest! They are on a dimmer and lovely to change up the look and feel of the room if entertaining

The shades won’t matter a huge amount. No one seems to be mentioning bulbs! These can be wide beam or more directional. So choose bulbs carefully to get the light you need. You won’t be diffusing light so a good directional bulb will give decent light. Spacing of lights matters too.

I think the glass is a bit ordinary. No colour and not very exciting. Heals has lots of lovely pendant lights with character. Stuff the cleaning - go for style.

Glass doesn't have to be boring! Jim Lawrence do really stylish glass pendant lights. I have three over a large island and they look fabulous.

I meant the greyish glass in the picture. I just think there’s better glass shades than those.

Ah sorry Tizer! I think there are so many lovely glass ones out there. Pooky is good for pendant lights too.

I did look at Pooky but they were mega bucks. Lovely but pricey

Where is this light from, it's absolutely gorgeous?
