Shed installation advice

I have a standard garden shed. It in the corner of the garden, very close to the fence. The side that is against the fence is totally rotten and I wonder if that’s because there no space for it to dry out? A new shed will have to go in the same place, but I’m wondering if I’m better to have a roof that slopes away from the fence so that wall doesn’t get quite so wet?

Also, do shed companies tend to take away the old shed, as well as install the new one?

Watching with interest.

It was the roof that went first on mine.

I found it difficult to get down the side next to the fence in order to fix it. There was a one foot gap. The wood on that side was in good condition. I know you need air circulation but I didn't leave myself maintenance space.

This time I've decided to leave a bigger gap.

I looked on a few shed sites and it seems some will charge more to demolish the old one if you want that service.

I can't remember if they remove it. Not all seemed to offer. Can't remember more as I've left it til I've more money, but get some quotes and see how they compare.

Have them either move the shed so that you can access the back panel to maintain, or put a few coats of preservative on that panel before they erect the shed.
If it's a pent roof (all slopes one way) then you could have the lower side outward but you might not have much headroom.
Alternatively get the fitters to fit guttering along the sides, routing to a waterbutt. Win, win. But try to get some preservative onto the 'hidden' panel anyway.
Some contractors take the old stuff, some don't, they might have to pay at the dump to get rid of it.
