About 85%

90% love it!

A slightly bigger upstairs and a shorter walk to the station would top it. And a slightly lower mortgage : )

80% I reckon 😂 we've moved from a 3 bed new build semi with allocated parking to a 4/5 bed 1970s detached with a driveway.

We've gained an extra bedroom, a utility room, an extra living room (or bedroom) and better parking and a garage.

We have lost an ensuite and a bit of garden space and have had to retro fit central heating.

Once renovated to include a downstairs shower room, it'll be the 100% home we envisaged it will be and we intend to have this as our forever home now as the space is so adaptable.

It was about 85% I compromised on utility room to go with a part exchange new build as I couldn't face selling our old house myself and I wanted to move/change the kitchen although it is new so perfectly adequate.

Now though around 60% as change in circumstances means it's too expensive for us so although it works it feels like a huge drain atm. Will probably have to move then I'll be even less satisfied!

Overall though I'm not sad, these are just desires not needs. It's just a house I'd live in a caravan as long as my family were ok.

95%. It is a one bed bungalow with a drive and reasonable size garden. It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to the town centre, supermarket, GP, cinema, theatre etc. It is a bit too small to fit everything in and be comfortable but I acknowledge that I do have too much stuff and should have a ruthless declutter.
I knew it was small (41 sq m) but it was affordable and in the best location for me. I downsized from a large 4 bed family home with a huge garden to move here.

I'd say 90%. A big utility and being detached would make it 100%. The size and location are great.

Exactly the same!

90% the en-suite is too tiny so my diamond shoes are too tight. It is a little small in comparison with the rest of the house and some bits are niggly, the dining room is great for 4 but extend the table to 8 and it becomes a tight squeeze.

Re drying I do have a utility but again a small one. I do have a hanging rail in there. But the game changer which no one sees is I used a heavy duty oval shaped wardrobe pole with the end caps that you can slot the pole into meaning I can remove it. So upstairs on the landing between 2 rooms opposite each other I have the pole ends screwed above the door frames and the pole across part of the landing. I have a 1.8m pole that I can hang lots of hangers on or a duvet cover if it gets all tangled in the tumble dryer.

Plot wise I cannot fault it, very private, massive drive for 4 cars (an arse to clear of snow in winter) and we converted a double garage so both children have a gaming study room. It retains the heat so my heating bill isn't ridiculous, the lounge is on the back so we face our garden and it a 95% private. I feel very lucky to be in this house.

60%.

Pros:
Spacious lounge, dining room and kitchen
Spacious bedrooms for me/DP and DD
Well positioned for school run, town, beach and the other things we do
Spacious bathroom and downstairs loo
Solid build, not damp or drafty

Cons:
Courtyard garden only
Tiny box room too small for DS - 2 by 1.5m!
Narrow, dingy hallway and under stairs
No garage, on street parking which is a NIGHTMARE

We’re currently moving to a bigger 3 bed with a better garden. Still on street parking but much less crowded and at the end of a cul de sac so nobody passes through.

90%.

4 double bedrooms, 2 receptions (one which is a kids living room), an office and 2 toilets.

Kitchen/diner still a derelict heap that we can't do until we have the £.

Location perfect for both kids schools and my work (less than 10 min walk) and close to train station for when OH occasionally goes into the office. Great local community ( SE London)

We're doing it all ourselves so are getting exactly what we want.

housethatbuiltme · 03/04/2024 13:21

Not ideal but it could be worse.

It doesn't have enough bedrooms, has horrific damp and knotweed (rented so nothing we can do).

Our last house was less than half the size though (tiny 2 up, 2 down). living their would be an actual nightmare these days. I don't even know how I managed when it was just 2 of us never mind if we had tried to cram 5 people and 2 pets in.

We are moving to a house about the same size as our current one but hopefully much more practical as we can split a large bedroom into 2 small ones giving us enough rooms (all be it single/box rooms) and its detached. It has a downstairs WC as well as upstairs bathroom and we will own it so be able to do improvements like going up into the loft when we have the money too (which could add about 20% more space). Its also not on a main road and has outdoor space for the kids finally.

Oh also new location is perfect, current one is acceptible (walking distant to things, ok ish bus route due to main road but everything is up steep hills and hard work to walk) and old one was bloody awful (middle of nowhere with no public transport).

99.9 Three floors, three people. We all have our own space for hobbies. Everything designed by me built by DH. Would like a longer drive more parking space.
