Only bathroom is 4 sqm?

Looking at a one bedroom flat, all rooms are generously proportioned but the bathroom is miniscule. It is 4sqm and is accessed through the bedroom.

Shower toilet sink. Could you cope with such a tiny bathroom?

That sounds pretty average.

Our new houses only bathroom is 3.52m... and will be a big 4 bed detached, why would a 1 bed flat need more than one or a bigger bathroom?

I’ve been reading these responses all day thinking .. “my bathroom looks tiny to all I’ve seen before”.

Turns out I got my measurements muddled. My bathroom is 1.25m by 1.25m plus a bit of an indent into the wall for the shower. So a LOT smaller than 4m2.. it’s maybe 1.8m2

Doh 😂

How do you sit on the toilet without your knees sticking out the doorway if it's only four foot one square?

I would re-measure again OP, because there is no way you have a shower, toilet and sink in a room 1.25m by 1.25m. The smallest shower cubicle I have seen on sale is 70x70cm (and that was cramped, 90x90 is more usual) and a toilet will not be any less than 50cm.

In my first flat I had a bathroom off the bedroom which was about 1m by 2m. It had a shower at the end and a sink and toilet on one side.

It was fine, tbh. We did have another bathroom which was also very small (about 1.7 by 2m) so guests didn't have to go through the bedroom though. That had a short bath which narrowed at one side so the door could open.

I'm currently living in 'temporary' accommodation and my bathroom is that size. It's been six years now and we manage. You can get showers that are for micro small bathrooms.
To be honest, we're used to it, it's functional but obviously it's not the best think in the world, it's not an issue though.
The thing I dislike the most is actually cleaning it, you'd think being smaller it would be quick and easy, but whichever way you bend over there's something in the way of moving freely so it feels quite annoying.
If the rest of the flat was fantastic and it depends on how much choice you have, I would consider it.
Like pp I'd be more bothered about people needing to go through the bedroom to use the loo.

So 1.8m2 for toilet and sink is fine in my eyes. I remember hostels in Singapore and Hong Kong where you could basically go to the toilet while having a shower while brushing your teeth over the sink!
What would bother me a bit more is that you have to go through the bedroom to access the toilet for guests.

Our bathroom is about that size, it never occurred to me that was "minuscule". We have a bath, sink, toilet and lots of cabinets built around them.

The size is fine, but I've lived in a flat before where the only bathroom was accessed through the bedroom and it was a nightmare so I wouldn't live there on that basis.

Our WC is 1.16m2 and absoloutly fits nothing but a toilet in... even with 0.64m2 extra I struggle to see how you could have a bathroom (toilet, sink and bath/shower) that small.

GasPanic · 02/04/2024 12:53

My under stairs toilet is about 1mx1.7m so 1.7m2.

You would have to be very creative to get a toilet, shower and sink in that but probably just about possible.

It surprises me why if the bedroom is fairly generous that they didn't make the bathroom a little bit larger.
