Love the kitchen.

I wonder why the wall paper only goes up so far, was that a trend in the 1970s?

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 27/03/2024 05:19

It’s so beautiful. If I lived there I wouldn’t ever leave.

It's not my cup of tea at all. Yes, it takes my back to the 70s. Maybe because my childhood was unhappy, I'm not enthralled by it.

It's been well looked after and maintained. I'd want to rip it apart, though. Too busy for me pallette wise

I feel this too. My grandparents had a flat with this kind of noisy carpet and the now ubiquitous MCM furniture. It wasn't a happy place for me at all and I have quite a visceral reaction to rooms decorated like that.

However it's been cared for very well and the yellow cabinets are very cheery.

I wouldn’t know where to start.
But agree about it feeling warm and loved, and a pleasant change from all the chilly grey.

I love it! Despite the mad carpet patterns there is something really calming about this house

really?????????????

I prefer it to the greige houses, but ew no

The very first thing I thought was, I bet that house is always just the right temperature. I've no idea why. It just look so inviting and comfy. Like you could have a good snuggle on the sofa with your Nan!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 27/03/2024 10:22

@WearyAuldWumman I think the wallpaper is peeling away on the ceilings ?

OldTinHat · 27/03/2024 10:26

Wow! I love it!

Barrenfieldoffucks · 27/03/2024 10:27

I love that. It looks like a real home home

EmilyPlay · 27/03/2024 10:36

It looks so cosy and welcoming. I love that blue bathroom and think coloured bathroom suites should make a come back. I wouldn't change the kitchen either.

That's exactly what I thought! It looks like my friend's mum's house, it's been the same since the 80's, always warm and she's always delighted to see you. I love it, it has such a welcoming vibe

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 27/03/2024 11:01

I also like the blue bathroom, I am impressed they found a similar colour of blue toilet seat to replace the original one as so often with retro bathrooms the toilet seat has been replaced with a white one :(

TitInATrance · 27/03/2024 11:07

I had that blue bathroom suite in a house I lived in 30 years ago and I still think about it. A dark blue bath in a poky dim lit bathroom is amazingly relaxing.

Compash · 27/03/2024 11:43

They've kept it as neat as a pin, haven't they? All the feels...

Norhymeorreason · 27/03/2024 11:50

Someone has poured themselves into that house, it must be a wrench to sell it, whatever the circumstances. It's the opposite of those depersonalised houses that leave you cold - this one really warms the heart. Yes, all the feels.

Janehasamane · 27/03/2024 11:56

It has been well cared for, but all key elements are at least 50 years old and will need significant work.

i never quite beleive folks who say they’d buy it and live in it as as is. Literally no one sits there with their 50 year old carpets and loo and says I will keep as is unless you’re living in Buckingham palace.

its dated, tired and of its era. But the house itself has good bones.

Quizine · 27/03/2024 11:57

I'd never buy a blue bathroom suite, but I'd keep that one and put in some lovely Spanish colourful tiles to echo the blue. Pretend I am bathing in the Med.

Aha! That would explain it.

I have actually kept the coloured bathroom suite that was here when I moved in in '87, but it's champagne and I like it.

The toilet had to be replaced eventually, but it was possible to get a match.
