Water softener recommendations and costs

We're currently renovating and wondering if we should get a water softener. Can anyone recommend a brand and share rough costs? We are east london if it helps, so very hard water.

We had a water 2 buy 200 model fitted about a year ago. We paid about £500 for it plus £250 for a plumber to fit it, although I've seen them for less than that since. The instructions that came with it were rubbish but the online video was much better. It works absolutely brilliantly, I wouldn't be without it now.

We get bags of salt for about £15 and they last a couple of months - this depends on how hard your water is and how much water you use. We're in a very hard water area also.

We bought a BWT one and the plumber fitted it as part of our extension work. I love it, my dry skin is so much better and the bathroom is so much easier to clean. My washing machine detergent drawer has never needed cleaning and we use less detergent. Think it was around £500 a couple of years ago.
