I’ve been reading a few threads that has the usual buyers remorse and thought I’d provide a counterpoint for those still going through the buying process.

7 yrs ago I bought my starter home(well flat) with the intent that I would work my way up the ladder to buy a house and just this week I completed on my Victorian terraced house

the level 3 survey spoke doom and gloomed (and in fact I had most of mumnetters saying to ditch it) but after the roofers report and speaking with friends who were more experienced than I - I forged ahead (plus also the surveyor abd roofer said they would buy it but to budget high maintenance cost). which isnt surprising for a house over 120yrs old.

in short ive movednl in for 3 days now and im smitten with. i love the character. the fact wirh tlc it will shine again. neoghbours and local tradies have been great and helpful esp when they realise i just moved in!

im still surrounded by mess and loads to do with unpacking but this place is now mine and im exciting on making it feel like mine

i hope everyone due to complete experoences the same :)

What a positive post, hope you're very happy there. 😊

I'm on of those who had buyers remorse. I'm just over 3 years in and very slowly getting there, lots of work planned this year to make it "home." I'm slowly falling in love though and while the regret is still there, a little. I'm feeling more confident in the vision I had when I bought the place.

I have had buyers remorse on previous purchases, but am with you on the house we moved into late last year. It's in a quiet cul de sac, but a quick walk to town.

The neighbours are great- the added bonus is that we don't share any more alls! It has huge amounts of character and space. Despite being Edwardian, it's easier to keep clean and tidy.

Every time I look out of the window, I smile. The garden is amazing. It wasn't something that was top of the list when looking, but brings the whole family huge amounts of joy..

Really nice to be able to enjoy it!

I’m with you! We bought a Victorian terrace that needs loads of work but I remember everytime I came down the stairs into our hallway I felt such a sense of space and light after our old flat.
