Hallway colour suggestions

Struggling with this - carpet needs to go and will do once decorating through the house is done. I hate the fucking owls but previous owner had them and the wallpaper is really tatty in places now.

Don’t want to paint the panelling as it’s handy to protect the walls from damage and it’s proper panelling not the fake stuff that’s a fad at the moment.

Kind of drawn to a stronger colour for the owl wall and a neutral for the other walls, but not sure what. Kids and husband tend to lean on the stair wall as well so needs to be a tough finish.

ive kind of got ideas in mind for other rooms in the house but the hallway eludes me apart from wanting the owls gone!

I follow a Farrow and Ball colour lovers’ site on Facebook just for decorating ideas - I’ve never used the paint. I’ve seen lots of lovely ideas for hallways similar to yours.

I think greens would tone nicely with the wood. So how about a strong emerald kind of green for the owl wall and a more neutral sage/soft green on the other walls and ceiling?

Or for the dark -
Cricket Field | Green Paint | Valspar Paint
Greener Grass | Green Paint | Valspar Paint
18 Holes | Green Paint | Valspar Paint

And the light -
Margaritaville | Green Paint | Valspar Paint
Fava Bean | Green Paint | Valspar Paint
Spring Sprout | Green Paint | Valspar Paint

Valspar seem to have a great selection, I don't remember looking at them recently - I am looking at paint a lot because we're about to move (fingers crossed anyway!)

Oooh thanks for those suggestions - I was considering green because I know it's such a browny toned hallway.

Only feedback I can offer on Valspar paint is that it's a bastard to get a spilt can of very purple purple (the shade of purple only a 4 year old girl can pick) out of a carpet. Last time DH was allowed to do DIY!

Green halls can be a bit lowering. The light is always greenish and it used to create "hall rage" because we never could see to put our shoes on! Now children grown up our green wallpapered hall is very pleasant(William morris honeysuckle 25 years old) but if I had dark wood panelling (I think yours is wonderful...don't whatever you do, paint it).....
I WOULD paint your hall a whitish or even a very pale blue colour...there are so many neutrals to choose from. Your floor is dark and rich too...you don't need to further close the walls in.
A house I know with similar panelling has Dulux Gardenia on all walls in hall/landing - it's stood the test of time.
Don't choose an exciting colour ...your pictures can be interesting eye catching instead or a runner on floor.

I strongly advise against Valspar! I used it in my home in two different places and it's peeled off! It's now crap since becoming B&Q's owner brand

There are lots of greenish toned whites...for example Farrow and Ball Old White. Gypsum from Fired Earth is greenish. Oyster from Fired Earth is a greenish cream
It doesn't have to be an actual sage or green to tone greenish with the wood.
