Extension doors

We are moving house and planning to do a ground floor extension. Our current house has bifold doors but I don't think I'll put them into the new place.

I'm toying with either slimline sliding doors which look more modern and sleek or

Traditional French doors which feel like they are on the verge of making a comeback with the younger generation. I've seen a few extended homes with beautiful French doors recently and they looked so much more appropriate and chic!

Any thoughts?

What period is the house? If it's an older property, then I prefer French doors. I've done that in my extension with two smaller windows either side to increase light. Internally, the nice thing about not having bifolds all the way across is that you can make more use of wall space. If it's 1950's / 60's, the sliding doors may look more in keeping. With new builds it can go either way as they tend to be copying an older style in most cases IMO.

Its a Victorian property.

I think you can still do a full wall of French doors. I liked this example on the Plain English website which just looked really chic. I've see a few other house tours lately in the Sunday Times section with French doors rather than more modern looking bifolds and sliders.

French doors every time. I don't like the full wall look though; I'd rather have one set and then a lot of windows.

I don't like Crittall windows unfortunately for a Victorian house. I think it looks a bit pastiche.

I think I'd either go completely modern in the extension or French doors which are more sympathetic to the era.
