How to find a planning consultant

We have just been refused planning permission, somewhat expected, which is fine but instead of going for changs our architect says appeal and then that's it over.

A bit of Internet searching suggests a planning consultant would be a good idea.

However how do I find one? I seem to have found town planners for developments, but residential seem to be architects and I have an architect albeit one that seems.cant help with planning!

Thanks

I agree it's odd

Why apply saying we can amend and hence appear to compromise

And now say amendments won't work
Appeal
But prepare to walk away

Just annoyed the £xk spent wasn't also on a planning consultant

Our house is unique - victorian but also has a modern extension - (glass and cladding). Not listed btw

So I do now belive after reading above posts that we need more of a case put forward

The "new" builds (80s /90s) I can see from.end of my garden and same area / council are different shapes and heights and dormers.

2 houses down are building a new build in a garden

1 Street across knocked down old house building new...

So I now just need to understand they why and if anything can actually be achieved. Even if it ends up as a no way and £ just down the drain

This thread been v helpful and I definitely have a list of things to discuss

I've talked to a few planners today and following up Monday.

My husband is an architect and this sounds unusual. What area are you in roughly?

We trusted our architect and lost about 10k in process! 2 years later, I am still sending bad thoughts his way.
He, too, advised us to appeal after rejection and wanted hourly rate for correcting the plans. In the end, I went online of our council's planning website, and saw that we will be rejected again, even with corrections.
Find yourself a planning consultant. Try phoning council planning people- they were most helpful when I rang and gave me lots of advice.
