Wimbledon Park area

Looking for a house around Wimbledon area as my old son is going to WCPS. Currently looking a house at Wimbledon Park, on Durnsford Road. Is it a safe and nice area to live? How is the school run traffic in the morning and afternoon? Thanks

The area is fine and safe, though the bit of Durnsford Road south of the railway bridge is a bit of an eyesore.

The whole of Durnsford Road itself is pretty busy so if you can try looking at houses on roads off it.

The roads to the west of it are generally more desirable than the other side.

South of Revelstoke Road you are considered to be in Wimbledon Park, and come under Merton Council. North of Revelstoke, up to Replingham Road, you are on the 'Southfields Grid' and come under Wandsworth (lowest council tax in UK).

There are a few shops and takeaways on Durnsford Road itself but nothing fancy. South of Revelstoke you also have Arthur Road, which has some more shops and a nicer feel than the main road. North of Revelstoke Road you are a short walk from Replingham Road, which has more of a 'little high street' feel about it and some nicer options to eat and some independent shops. The local EAs call it "the (Southfields) village".

The park itself (Wimbeldon Park) is fab, and can easily be reached from either the Wimbledon Park or Southfields Grid areas.

Dunsford road is a busy main road and quite long too. Are you okay with this? If so, it might be fine, go for the victorian houses though. I don't know Wimbledon Park area tbf, I just know a friend who rented on Dunsford Road a few years ago.

There are some lovely roads nearby but I wouldn't choose Durnsford Rd itself - very busy, and as pp have said, some quite industrial views in parts. It probably means you get a lot more house for your money if you're OK with that.

It's at the north of the Wimbledon Park station, close to the Mosque.

Is Durnsford Road noisy all day?

Yes @npc008 and if the tennis champs get planning approval it’s only going to get worse as they plan to shut Church Road. Durnsford Avenue is fine - are you sure it’s a property on Durnsford Rd rather than Ave?

Access to Squirrels by car is also a little annoying from The Grid due to the one way systems. However, it is a very family friendly area to raise a child as there are lots of young families about.
