What could EA have meant in this ad?

Welsh Row in Nantwich isn’t famous, I don’t think, so it’s not that. I think it’s probably something like “desirable”.

Honestly, why are so many property ads utter crap? Why do EAs never proofread? It gave me a laugh, at least.

Infamous is a negative. It means it’s known for something bad

Wigtopia · 09/03/2024 19:14

But I agree the estate agent was probably trying to say it was desirable, but used the wrong word 🤭

It's very rare I find a listing without spelling errors or complete bullshit. I'm not sure proof reading would help as they're not accidental mistakes/typos I doubt.

Most gardens seem to come with "boarders" so not being sold with vacant possession I assume 😂

My MIL has a truly awful listing up at the moment, it's like MN bingo. First photo isn't the front of the house, pictures in random order, a practically duplicate picture, spelling mistakes etc. The absolute gem is this: "All three bedrooms feature windows which add to the theme of light throughout the property".

Not sure how these people are in work tbh.

It’s the close ups of the vase of flowers on the kitchen windowsill that get me.

“Oh yeah… love the house… especially the placemats on the table/ artfully draped throw/ vase of flowers…”

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 10/03/2024 07:08

@CellophaneFlower - AND the word BOARDERS! 🤬🤬🤬

Oh yes this too! Her listing didn't have this, but it does have a particularly grotty pic of the tube station, consisting mainly of the peeling paint on it's ceiling, plus pics of the co-op and Sainsburys 🙄

I imagine the use of AI isn't helping in this area Grin

TBH I think chat GPT would do a much better job than most estate agents!

NewFriendlyLadybird · 10/03/2024 08:16

Why do sellers approve this? I’ve rewritten EA blurb in the past, asked them to retake and re-order photos etc.

That’s so funny though. Perhaps they’ve used the thesaurus function and clicked antonym by mistake.

Itscatsallthewaydown · 10/03/2024 08:16

It’s because estate agents are invariably wankers

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 10/03/2024 08:20

Anyone can be an EA. Even if word-smithing isn't a strong point.

I'm on Rightmove almost daily at the moment (life changes) and most of the descriptions are hilarious or downright lies!

My friend had her three bed property listed for weeks with no viewings and when she had a moan about it to me, I asked her to send me a link to the listing.

turns out they had listed it as 2 bedrooms and not 3 bedrooms and didn’t include any mention or pictures of the conservatory so I imagine people thought it was massively overpriced!! There were also a few typos that I spotted. She took all this feedback back to the estate agent and after they amended, she mysteriously started getting viewings!

BruceAndNosh · 10/03/2024 08:51

Why do so many EA refer to Principle bedroom instead of Principal? Does these mean there are unprincipled bedrooms?

I love the fact that meeting legal requirements for a bedroom is now a theme of light 😂
