What do you give builders at the end of a project?

I'm wondering what the usual protocol is. Did you give (or are you planning to give) your builders something at the end of the project? For example, drinks, a takeaway, etc? Or do you just say thank you and send them on their way?

Never given a bonus to tradesmen and we've had some onsite for up to 4 months. But all trades working here get offered tea/coffee even if they're only here for an hour. Longer than that and they get biscuits and multiple drinks. Bacon baps or pizzas have been offered on longer jobs and ice creams and squash in hot weather.

This sounds lovely Smile

@OooohHowIMissThe90s Thanks. I find it pays to look after your tradesmen and they'll prioritise you when you need them again.
Had a couple of chaps doing some tree work in the garden a few weeks ago. I made them a coffee after they'd been here an hour, then another with chocolate biscuits later on. They thanked me for the refreshments before they left and again in the email with the invoice attached - so either they're very polite or they don't often get refreshments!

Steady supply of tea and biscuits for decorators and usually a bacon roll or similar on the last day, when we had bathroom done made lunch for fitter every day, he worked really hard and did a great job. Have paid and rounded up sometimes, or given a nice bottle of wine too. On the flip side I've refused to pay a full invoice for a completely shoddy job. I think if you can afford it a token or just tea and biscuits shows appreciation for a job well done.

We had amazing builders for our loft conversion they were flexible and innovative in how they did things to get us a better spec out of it. We obv just paid the company. But as well as so much tea and coffee, we gave them £50 each and a bottle of their fave whisky.
