Cost to wire in wall lights either side of bed?

Please can anyone confirm how much they paid to have a couple of wall lights installed either side of their bed?

Possibly a very daft question, but would an electrician need to get behind the wall to wire it (so would the wall need replastering?)
Thanks!

I did something similar in 2021 and it was £150 ish, though that was just the electrics. I paid someone else to make it good afterwards with filler etc.

No, they wouldn't NEED to get behind the wall. They could use surface trunking. It'd look like shit though.

I doubt anyone has done this though. It'd normally be part of a rewire. But if you're quoted less then £1,000 I'd be surprised.

Maybe, impossible for any of us to know without knowing the detailed set up of your house/specific bedroom. The lights would presumably need independent switches and/or a switch at the wall near to the entrance to the bedroom. Might need chasing in to the wall if you don’t want it surface mounted. Is there electrics near enough to run them from etc etc etc.
The cost will be dependent on how much work needs to be done.

I've seen lots of people on Instagram use the battery operated bulbs in wall lights (puck lights) or rechargeable bulbs. Might be worth a thought to save the cost/inconvenience.
