Paint to cover up damp stains

I have water stains on my wall where some water got in (fixed now). I've just been looking at damp seal paints to sort it out but they're high VOC, and I have respiratory problems. I can't breathe around gloss and am assuming it's similar.

Is there a VOC-free or low-VOC way to deal with damp stains?

I have to do it myself as I can't afford to get someone in.

Zinder perima white will cover it but not sure about VOC free

I’d say the priority it to make sure it’s fully dry, don’t try and paint away any existing moisture. If it’s just staining a decent sealer/primer should be enough. They don’t take too long to cure as long as the area is warm and well ventilated.

Zinnser products are really good for this sort of stuff.

Zinnser is your friend! We had similar and it's covered the stain and we've painted over the top now the issues been sorted

Ah brilliant, thank you. In case anyone comes across this in the future I've found this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zinsser-BIN-Aqua-Primer-Sealer/dp/B0CHJJVN82/ref=sr_1_1 <0.01% VOCs.

I'm asthmatic and I used the moisture barrier one from B&Q. You just roll it on the wall. After it's dry you just paint over with normal emulsion paint not gloss.
