Hi

We are looking at houses in the SW london and surrey areas and have seen a house close to the station in guildford and just wanted to get some opinions on what the area is like? Is it fanily friendly?

The link for the house is below its near dapdune wharf. -https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/145314983

We have been looking at houses between london road station and dapdune wharf because we want to be within walking distance of the station. However slightly worried it night not have much of a community given it isnt all residental and is surrounded by some quite big roads.

Thanks

Mel

That s quite a nice part of the town. Near the cricket ground. It will be busyish there, but not worse than SW London, and it's tucked away off a side street. You probably won't get many better options for that price within walking distance of the train station. But as always- have a walk round the area yourself. Train trip to Guildford!

Agree with above poster. It's a fairly nice part of town with a nice cafe and couple of local pubs nearby. Near waitrose and cricket ground...also near the Lido! My sister lives in that area and has a good local community...

That house (and others near it) is in a high risk flood zone. Forget it.

Thanks so much for these responses, decided to not go for that house due to the flood risk.

I have now seen somewhere in onslow village but it's quite close to the university campus. Do any of you know what that area is like, do students tend to occupy a lot of the nearby houses?

very family friendly. Guildford is generally quite safe too. lots to do and countryside all around, good commute to London. Great schools! Gorgeous town. We've settle on SE London now but only to be closer to my parents. Otherwise, I'd move to Guildford in a flash!

shame about the property you listed above.
Onslow is lovely, village-y, maybe just avoid immediate roads near the uni, but tbh, it's a very small uni and most are international students who are mature and doing further studies. personally, i didn't think it was student-y at all.

Just seen the back/lack of garden - wondered why it was such a good price so close to Town!
