Stick-on tiles

Has anyone used stick on tiles and happy with the results?

I'm looking for splash back tiles for my kitchen sink and bathroom sink areas.

I was thinking about it but in the end I bought a £3 chisel and took the old tiles off , filled the holes and have tiled the wall. Haven’t tiles before but it isn’t difficult and cutting tiles not as bad as I thought it might be.

In other sections of the wall I’m leaving the tiles and have put 2 coats of something called Mapei Eco prim over the top which gives a rough surface to tile over without removing the tiles. 2 tiles were a bit loose but the rest are on solidly so should be fine.

I was worried that the stick on ones wouldn’t last whereas ceramic ones last for ages - as long as they stay on the wall, fingers crossed!

I used them in a small downstairs toilet around the sink and they were fine. I don't think I'd use them for very wet areas as they do start to peel slightly at the corners if they get too wet

They aren’t great in wet areas. They might be okay in the kitchen if you’re diligent about wiping excess water away after washing up but in a bathroom area which gets wet all the time and where the air is moist when showering etc they’ll start to peel fairly quickly.

A laminate splashback would be a better idea - not expensive, can be easily cut to size and fixed with adhesive: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/lysekil-wall-panel-double-sided-white-marble-effect-terrazzo-effect-10558007/?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJO4EGak-dvmb_1m_xPKb4-1YCssok5OOuv4ZIOpqrHewntF-Lc6cPwhoCZfgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Interested in this for our utility room which has a laminate worktop. Have you fitted this yourself and seen the results.

I used some in my kitchen. There were some horrible tiles - fruit baskets type things - interspersed around the kitchen & 9 of them making a horrible picture at the cooker. I covered them all with coloured tile transfers when I moved in 7 years ago & they still look great

I have stud walls, plastered and painted with kitchen / bathroom paint at the moment - nothing else so I'm working on a blank canvas.

Still undecided.

The kitchen area to paint is narrow and underneath a windowsill. Not sure what to do!

I've seen an Instagram ad but they're American

I'd just go with real tiles then. Nothing too big and heavy if on stud plasterboard walls but if you have a clean slate to start with then it should be an OK job to do.

Easiest thing would be the sheets of mosaic tiles because you're more likely to be able to get away with not having to cut any tiles.

Yes, I tiled all around my kitchen worktop area using stick on tile sheets from Amazon. They look brilliant to me, a few people have complimented them and were surprised they're stick on.

They were much more time consuming than I expected to apply, but that was mainly because I had some sections with plug sockets, switches, corners, windowsill etc to go around so I had to do a fair bit of cutting. The large flat bits were easy.

I loved my stick on tiles ( there were plastic) so easy to wipe but then my parent set fire to our chip pan and it melted all the tiles so we had to remove them.
