Sound-proofing recommendations

Has anyone successfully soundproofed in a semi detached / terraced house ?
I'm looking to install panels (?) on a few internal walls in our halls adjoining home. We can hear neighbours coughing, conversations, phones buzzing, etc etc and it's really having a negative impact. The walls are so thin😕One option I have in the master bedroom to dampen sound is to move our wardrobes to the other side of the room but I would rather avoid this if at all possible, as we spent a small fortune installing built in cupboards years ago, on the opposite wall. Oh to live in a detached house!

How old is your house? Does it have a cavity wall? Any breeze blocks in the construction?
The reason for asking is that the successfulness of soundproofing depends on the construction of your property. Breeze blocks for instance, carry sound right around the house. So if you put your ear to the opposite wall to the one next to your neighbours, you'll hear the sound just as clearly as you would in the dividing wall.
If it is brick walls, you'll have more luck, but you will need to possibly lift floors to insulate any gaps between the joists running between your two houses,to stop sound traveling along them.

@Feckedupbundle thanks so much for your reply. It's Edwardian so probably no cavity walls or breeze blocks ? Would we need to lift floors, insulate any gaps & then add the soundproofing to walls? Apologies for my ignorance!

Following as in a similar situation

I did a lot of research before having soundproofing installed but despite that, the results have been patchy.

As a start, have a look at the Quietco website. I'm not recommending the company as such as I never used them, but there's some useful information on the subject.

We soundproofed the downstairs in our old house. It was a 1950s semi and we could hear so much from next door. Tbh it made a massive difference - we lost about 3inches I think but it was worth it. Cost a few grand but this was about 10 years ago. We're in a detached now but have neighbours with a noisy dog so goes to show that a detached is not necessarily the answer, it’s who’s next door.

Its impact noise like door slamming that bothers me is it possible to reduce it

I'm no expert but I believe reducing impact noise is more difficult compared to airborne noise.
