Victorian front garden renovation

Hi, I'd like to know if anyone has recently done a small front garden renovation (around 4m x 3m). We live in a Victorian semi in Surrey and I have been quoted £11,700 for laying foundation, black & white Victorian chequered tiles, installing railings and gates and slate paving. Was initially a bit shocked by the price and will obviously get more quotes but just want to know how people have approached this project if anyone has done it recently as it's not a big space.

Ouch! That sounds an insane amount - nearly £1k per square metre?!!! It might not bevan appealibg job as is in a small area (soa pita). Butball thd sane...?

Definitely too expensive. Get at least 3 quotes from local contractors who have good reviews and are not afraid to let you view their previous work.

The tiles for a proper victorian style tiled path are expensive and it is very time consuming to lay them. I laid one myself about 2.5 metres long and the tiles alone were about £1000 and that was before prices went up.

Hi currently having the same issue, did you manage to find a cheaper quote?
