Under Offer not Sold STC on Right Move

Are Under Offer/Sold STC used interchangeably on Right Move to mean similar things?

A few weeks ago i viewed a house, it had only been on market a few days, owner said they had a few viewings, i made offer within a couple hours (98% of 'offers in region' price), first response was they have received a offer for asking price, so i went back with higher offer 103% of offers in region of figure, then i got response saying they had given first buyer their word and accepted their offer but would let me know if anything changed. The house changed on Right Move to under offer that day. But since then for past few weeks it has remained as Under Offer and the house is still bookable for viewings, so is it likely something has fallen through or they are holding out for higher offer. In the past they have changed to Sold STC on rightmove once offer accepted. I wasn't sure if it was agent specific.

Yes they mean the same

House I'm buying is down as Under Offer rather than SSTC. There was a slight issue with the vendors at the start where they accepted my offer in theory and weren't accepting any more viewings, but they weren't immediately able to instruct solicitors. I think that's why the estate agent picked Under Offer rather than SSTC. It's all sorted now and we are progressing properly but I assume the estate agent just hasn't bothered or maybe not even remembered to go back and tweak it to SSTC. So in short, I'd say they mean the same thing as far as other buyers are concerned.

When we bought,l/sold a couple of years ago, 'Under offer' was used when the offer was initially accepted and was changed to Sold STC once the solicitors had been instructed and the Memorandum of Sale had been issued.

It depends on the EA whether they call it under offer or Sold STC they are interchangeable terms.

Same for me (buying at the moment).

Some people will use under offer until the survey/searches etc have been done and all is ok and they know it's defo going forwards. Its a bit suspicious if they're still taking viewings op

One estate agent I used puts 'under offer' until contracts exchanged, then 'sold', but otherwise se it seems interchangeable.
I'm surprised that they are still showing the property though - if I was the buyer I'd be pretty pissed off. Why not call the agent and ask for an update? Tell them your offer is still on the table but you are actively looking elsewhere too (so they don't think you are waiting for that property in particular).
