Hello everyone, I recently viewed a house on the market and noticed there's a funeral directors located next to side of the garden. Could you advise if purchasing this house might affect future sales? Are there any concerns about living next to a funeral directors?
Thank you

What's a funeral care ? Is it a cemetery or a crematorium ?

Was just going to ask the same thing

It's Co-op funeral care

Do you want to buy the house?
If yes, others will also want to buy the house.
Ergo, it will be sellable in the future.

If you don’t like the house, don’t buy it. It sounds a bit blunt but, unless you’re buying with the intention of flipping it within a short space of time, you should buy the house you want, now, and feel confident that there will be someone like you in the future if and when you come to sell.

At least the neighbours will be very quiet 🙄

When I was looking for this house I saw a beautiful house on Rightmove that was pretty much perfect in every way except that next door was a funeral directors. Hearses parked right up against the shared wall, sad people coming and going all day and worst of all a chapel of rest in the yard. I didn't even view it and I speak as someone who was brought up living in a house next to a church with a grave yard and my current house overlooks a church with a grave yard.

There was just something too miserable about the undertakers. Too current, recent and present. At least with a church you get the up side of life too - Sunday bells, brides and confetti, stained glass and carols at Christmas. A funeral director is just sadness.

If its just an office I wouldn't mind but wouldn't want to live next to a Chapel of rest or where hearse leave and loved ones arrive at all hours day and night, I would find that depressing.

The fact OP is a bit put off says others might be too.

I think it's actually wise to consider resale value when purchasing. Nobody wants to get stuck with a house they have to take a hit on in order to sell, unless you're getting it at a discount yourself for the same reason.

That’s an argument against overpaying, which is of course hugely valid.

The thing is that people have all sorts of preferences and any house would be difficult to sell to absolutely everyone. I, for example, would never buy a house on a main road—wouldn’t even bother looking. Yet loads of people do buy houses on main roads. Sometimes without even a compromise on price. People also live next to cemeteries, railway lines, schools, student houses etc. Not buying a house in any of those situations that you can live with, but that some other people on the internet might dismiss out of hand would be crazy. Providing that you loved it in every other respect and that the price was right.
