Where in Oxford

We are thinking of relocating from London to Oxford. I will need to commute into London 2-3 days a week. DP WFH. Aware that areas such as north Oxford, Jericho and Summertown are very expensive. Are there other areas slightly more affordable not too far from the station?

Summertown or Jericho- both lovely

You want to be in a reasonable drive of Didcot or Oxford Parkway. I would not recommend Kiddlington or Didcot itself but lots of nice villages that might be suitable depending on your requirements

Thame is a lovely market town. In Oxfordshire (albeit about 30 mins outside Oxford ‘proper’) and whilst parts are expensive it’s more affordable than Summertown and the like (my folks are in Summertown and it’s lovely but very pricey). Thame and Haddenham Parkway station gets you to Marylebone in about 50 minutes, so good for commuting.

If you'd consider using the Oxford Tube instead of the train, have a look in eg St Clements. Walking distance of the centre, great for all the restaurants on Cowley Rd etc www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/156385376#/?channel=RES_BUY

I would look around Iffley Fields. Absolutely lovely community. Town is walkable. Definitely still on the up. Good buses, good schools. Lots of community stuff going on.coukd get a 3 bed or even 4 bed for £850k. 10 mins drive to loads of countryside. 5 min walk to the river etc

With that budget go for Summertown your on right side of Oxford for Cotswolds & it’s lovely.
or Wolvercote or Old Marsden. I’d prefer to live in a more modest house but in a nicer area.
