Storage/shelving in alcoves - how much do you think?

Need to get this done professionally! Alcoves either side of a chimney breast. I want a cupboard lower down on both sides, and shelves going up, with one side to be able to incorporate TV, video etc.
How much do you think it might cost? How long would it take to build?
Anyone had this sort of thing done recently?
Thanks in advance

I have looked into this before but not gone ahead yet. This co. seems quite sensible www.jali.co.uk/ but this one www.londonalcove.com/ seems a bit much! Think you need to look in yellow pages for a carpenter and get quotes that way.

Get a joiner on a day rate if you can. I couldn't and, as I live in London and was quoted £750 per alcove for wardrobes (we're talking about MDF here), so I made them myself and they look great. Also, if you don't want to get fitted, then these people do really nice "floating" cabinets etc which I think are far funkier (and are readily available on ebay for about £30 a pop). www.beaverandtapley.co.uk/

Personally, I think dwarf cupboards with built-in shelving above looks a tiny bit dated.

Thanks
Ball park figures are helpful.
Bit wary about floating shelves LLLL, as the shelves will need to take a lot of books. Any suggestions for what to do with TV/DVD/Freeview box etc, as it has to go in the alcove space, and I just assumed I would need a dwarf cabinet kind of set up/

We got a Tapley cabinet and stuff all videos/DVDs in there, put the VCR and DVD on top and a bracket above for TV so that is lodged into wall. You could put the VCR and DVD player in the actual cabinet but would be a pain to keep opening and closing - be careful where you put your electrical sockets. We have a few books in another alcove displayed on a Ron Arad bookworm shelf but must admit most of our books are on shelves in another room.
