What's the quickest anyone has moved house and then moved again?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the quickest they have moved house and then moved again please?

We moved 2 months ago and although I don't like to use the word easily I absolutely hate the house where we've moved to. The hatred is growing more and more every day. This is despite us doing decorating and generally making the house better condition.

The neighbours are ok, but the house is horrible and the location is awful.

We were on a bit of a budget so we knew we would have a limited choice, so when we looked it was more of a sacrifice the size/type or sacrifice the location. We'd admitted we'd sacrificed more in favour of the size of the house, but I have never been so unhappy in a house in my life. My wife is aware of how I feel but I'm trying not to talk about it too much because I don't think me moaning about it would be fair to her or our kids.

We probably wouldn't be able to move for at least a year or so anyway, but I would like to know I'm not alone and if anyone has moved house again fairly quickly due to being unhappy for whatever reason.

Thank you.

@Geoff0409 i can totally relate to your
post having moved and getting blinded by house over location. I’d give anything to undo the decision but as I have to keep reminding myself - that’s a waste of mental energy - but it’s so hard not to keep on with the should haves and would haves. If we could move tomorrow and forget this ever happened I’d be packed up in a flash! But now due to a tiny bit of increased borrowing to pay for a lease car which we need due to the nature of where we have moved - we can’t even port - so a rock and a hard place is where we’re stuck.

Everyones situation is different but take comfort (as I do in reading similar posts) that you’re not on your own - and reading about other peoples experiences, it’s not irreversible. (Although how people manage to do such short time frames and not have to pay huge penalties on ERC payments and cover costs again is always surprising!)

Unless you have a cash buyer, you can’t sell for 6 months from land registry.

I hope things work out for you.

Sorry to add to an old post but it popped up whilst searching! I moved 9 months ago to what I thought was my dream home but I cant say I'm happy. When we first moved in I was thrilled but the novelty soon wore off and now I'm thinking maybe we should move again! We had been in our previous house nearly 20 years and brought our kids up there so it was a huge emotional wrench to move but now we have a big mortgage and a large Georgian house that needs a huge amount of renovation. We have done a lot already and its put us in a position where we could move to a nice small housing estate into a 4 bed built in 2004, that needs nothing doing besides your own décor and this would see us mortgage free. The thought of being mortgage free at 45 thrills me! But I worry if I am making a knee jerk reaction and I need to take time and slow down. I never thought I would live in this house forever it is basically my pension but there is a good 4 bed for sale that I think would be sensible!
The question is do I wait a couple of years, finish the renovation and then move or grab this opportunity now and enjoy being mortgage free?

No ERC costs if your mortgage is portable and you don’t break the chain

OP I know this is an old thread but wondering how you're feeling about the house now? I'm in a similar situation but can't move again for another few years so hoping I start to feel happier here soon

I hated my current house. It caused depression for months.

18 months later, you couldn't pay me to move, I adore it!

Give it time?

I don't believe that you can settle. A house is either right for you or it's not. I moved from my favourite house to another and I never had great vibes to start with. But we had to move and I thought it was because I was so upset leaving the other one. I had the worst 16 months of my life.

We had 2 sets (one each side) of awful neighbors. They were really noisy and just wouldn't stop. I was ready to sell after 7 months but then we went into lockdown. I worked full time in the pandemic and survived on about 3 hours of sleep a night. It broke my mental health.

After we moved it took a couple of years for me to recover. But when I came to see this house I just knew it was right and it is.

I think you should let your wife know your thoughts, it's really not great if you carry on feeling this way.

Give it another 4+ months and see how you feel.

I've cried at every single house we've moved too, I've hated them, wondered why we've done it etc but I've grown to love all but one!

Put back on the market after 16 months, completed on the new house almost two years to the day. But it was a 'first rung of the ladder's flat that was never going to be long term and also saved stamp duty due to covid. We were very lucky
