Cheapest/ easiest way to get kitchen/ utility cabinets in bespoke colour

What the title says really! We're re-doing our utility. It's small - only need one base unit, 3 wall units and a few end panels. But I want to paint it a non-standard colour (or to get it supplied painted). What's the cheapest/ easiest way of doing this? I looked at DIY kitchens (with bespoke painting) and it's coming out at over £1500. Getting just carcasses from e.g. Howdens and doors from somewhere like Naked Doors is coming out around the same price. There must be a cheaper way to do it! Ikea don't do paintable cabinets. Howdens do, but they're all shaker style (I want flat doors).

I've searched for pre-primed MDF cabinets but haven't found anything promising...

Any ideas?

Have you tried Wickes or B&Q? If you only want basic, flat fronts and are painting them, just get plain white and lightly sand before priming & painting.

I think that'd be the same issue as e.g. Ikea - in that they're foil laminated so therefore not ideal for painting? I'd rather just get unfinished MDF cabinets (or pre-primed) that I can paint...

It might be worth trying this company - https://madebyhusk.com/product-category/fronts/

You could get the IKEA/Howdens cabinets and then the primed MDF doors. Looks like they’re slab.

I've seen kitchen units offered on our local 'Buy nothing' page a few times - normally MDF with a vinyl covering. I saw that you can paint MDF with the Al Fresco Frenchic paint, they have a selection of colours?

Everything is paintable. Buy whatever cabinets you like then
Use Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin (Water Based) tinted to whatever colour you want. Use a foam roller for a lovely finish. It goes on easily and is durable. Look up how to prepare you surface on YouTube/google

Would vinyl not work? That would be far far cheaper. You get company's doing it now popping up all over

Could you buy second hand cabinets and paint? I can vouch for Rust-Oleum kitchen cabinet paint, I hand rollered an entire kitchen in it (holiday cottage) and two years on it still looks brilliant. Goes on like a dream too, I used those small foam rollers and the finish is really smooth

Not sure what you mean? Vinyl cabinets (in which case I'm not confident in my ability to paint them without them looking shit) or stick-on vinyl? In which case, didn't even know that was a thing. But again would be worried it would look shit.

But posts above have given me more confidence in the idea of painting basic non-shiny Ikea cabinets... So maybe I'll just do that

This looks really promising, thanks!
