Taking property off the market temporarily

We put our house on the market, and almost immediatly found out that my partner's job was being made redundant - awful timing. Our EA has taken it off the market, and advised us to keep things on pause for now. If he can find a new job soon we will look to go back on the market and start looking for our new home.

My question is - will this make our Rightmove listing look odd? Will it show as having been on the market for a long time, or will it be a new listing? Is there anything I should be worried about?

We put our house on the market, photos etc. After 2 weeks we took it off as the EA didn’t listen to anything we asked of them. We then went with a different EA and it went back on (rightmove) and just looked like a new listing. Hope that helps.

Yes, the only way to avoid it is to ask the agent to do a new listing when your ready. I imagine you might be asked to pay his costs for the previous listing.

Ah, I feared this might be the case. I don't suppose you know how much we'd be looking at? As if the whole situation wasn't crappy enough in the first place!

No i have no idea sorry.
You could just choose another agent when you re list. But if you do that - make sure you have cancelled your current contract, and take care if someone that the first agent introduced then becomes your buyer.

Old listings can usually be found back on Zoopla.... but no biggie if you can explain to buyer.

I doubt you will be asked to pay the estate agent anything under these circumstances.
