Bathroom Fitting....

Hi mumsnetters! Interested to get an idea of what you would expect to pay for having a bathroom fitted?

Just for context:

-We have already bought the sink, tap, toilet, cabinetry for the sink and toilet, shower rail and shower screen and bath.
-We will be purchasing the floor (half height tiling) and wall tiles ourselves.
-We will be painting the exposed wall ourselves.
-We will be paying for the hire of and disposal of the necessary skip ourselves (of course).

Our bathroom is being fitted at the end of a rather large job (whole house gas central heating being fitted-new boiler, rads, pipes being installed and chased etc) which is being paid for separately.

The guys have offered to stay on and fit the bathroom and are asking for £2,000

Just wondering what anyone else has paid for a 'dry fit' and by that I mean having supplied everything yourself?

My husband has quoted lots of things off the Internet that suggest in the region of £7.5k but that's a full remodel including all the kit and caboodle which we've already paid for and have sat in the garage....

I'm not for undercutting people but £1,000 a day seems steep....

It'll take longer than two days I suspect.

Sounds fair, give them cash ;)

Sounds fair. I've literally had a builder leave this week after doing our bathrooms. We supplied all the main items you mention but he supplied all the grout / plumbing / sealants / some paint etc. He installed a downstairs cloakroom, removed all the old floor to lay a new tiled floor, played around with pipework and stud walls to give us flat walls instead of boxing in the corners, installed toilet sink and radiator, painted, created new outward pipe. Upstairs bathroom he replaced a bath with walk in shower, had to change pipework to go under the floor, new lvt flooring, new radiator, installed bath panels to whole room, put up mirror with electric, put in toilet and sink, painted ceiling and put in a new fan. He also had to change the waste pipe outside as it was cast iron and the shower pipe wouldn't run into it as it was lower than the original bath. Total cost was £4450 and that took about 3.5 weeks for a guy on his own. I think his day rate is £200 plus materials (our materials bill racked up because of the outside waste pipe)

I'd guess it's significantly more than 2 days work, unless there is a vast number of workers involved - at which point 1k a day between 5, is a much more reasonable £200/day.

Thanks all! So they are a friend, we are paying them cash and it's just the one guy. Without being too outing he is travelling a fair distance and will be staying with us to complete the job.

Thank you though I'll give the go ahead 👍👍

Would you mind telling me what area you are in and providing details? I will be looking for someone soon 🙏

We paid just over £4500 and they supplied all the fittings. They are doing our en suite next week and are charging £3800, again they are supplying all the fittings. We were really pleased with the workmanship when they did our main bath and they were in and out within a week. We are in the North West but the company is nationwide.

@CheltenhamLady would you mind naming the company? I am in the north West and about to complete on a house (hopefully). Some of the numbers I have seen have worried me, your post gives me hope 🙏

The company are called A & V Modern Bathrooms. They have an FB page.

Happy to help. We have been very satisfied and we received some eye-watering quotes!!

That's a great price! We're doing similar with a big bathroom and en-suite. It's costing us around 3k which we think is a great price. Be aware of hidden costs such as grout, tile adhesive tile trim bath waste trap etc! It's also taking longer than first thought!

@CheltenhamLady thanks so much really appreciate it 💐

PheobeBebe · 17/02/2024 00:17

Not in the North West @Anon1231990 sorry. Hope your purchase and renovations go well!
