Having LVT in a wood effect in a new kitchen, dinning, snug extension. Anyone able to suggest the best direction to get it laid. The flooring company said it’s personal preference.

According to my builder, it should lay in a direction towards the main light source so that your eye travels towards that.

Lay it in the direction you walk into the room, and/ or if you have say double doors out onto a garden, running towards that.

Our wood floors have just gone in this week, front of house to back of house and that’s only because it includes hallway and felt weird going horizontally in a hallway. But does track with with pp says, they are pointing towards French doors/picture window.

Exactly what @BFG2023 said

Thanks everyone for your post. Also just Googled also and says to lay in direction of longest wall and facing towards the light.

My front door is at a 90 degree angle to the orientation of the property. The planks are laid in the direction you walk in, which means they are diagonal across the rooms and point towards the french doors at the back. I wanted to avoid having them length-wise from front to back as the eye moves too quickly along the space. This way the property looks wider too.

... Sorry, that made no sense! It's a 45 degree angle between the orientation of the property and the direction of the flooring, and the flooring is at right angles to the threshold. Also my flooring is laminate not LVT, but I assume that doesn't make a difference.
