Selling house - is this normal for solicitors or should I complain?

My solicitor keeps asking again for documents I’ve already sent. Particularly frustrating when I’m hoping we’re near exchange and they’re asking for documents I sent a couple of months ago! Told enquiry responses were sent then weeks later I’m asked to send them again.
all feels a bit slack - is this normal? I expected them to be a bit sharper than this! I feel like my sale is being delayed - not sure whether it’s worth raising or whether to just accept it is what it is?

Not sure if its normal across the board, but I'm in the same boat- close to exchange and being asked for stuff I've already sent ages ago. Infuriating.

Contact the partner responsible and the practice manager saying you are concerned that post is either being misfiled or not received: if this has happened more than once there is a problem with their systems and they need to know. If it is one of those conveyancing factories, it may well be that the person asking for the documents is not the same person who logs receipt. Or it could be that they have not looked properly.
I agree, it doesn’t inspire confidence!

Ah it’s all via email, so I can see in my sent box it’s definitely gone to her email address! Which seems even more worrying really - surely it’s a quick search of her inbox to find it. I imagine loads of emails coming in and they’ve just been missed?

Email or not, receipt of documents in a solicitors office needs to be properly logged. Relying on an email chain is not good enough- they need to be able to lay hands on those documents for years.
Its very easy to miss emails in chains, but more to the point, if the transaction is being dealt with by more than one person, it is needs to be easily accessible and logged within a case management system, so that anyone in the firm can see what stage the transaction is at.
At best, it’s sloppy; at worst, a potential negligence claim. The partners need to be made aware.
