Dark paint - regrets?

Has anyone regretting painting a living room a dark colour? We’re about to take the plunge and I’m having a wobble! I want it to be a cosy, enveloping feel in that room (which will mostly be used in the evenings) but I’m worried it’ll end up feeling gloomy. Lots of windows (triple aspect - south, north, east)

I regret using F&B because its coverage is poor - that’s the estate emulsion. Recently I’ve use their satinwood to paint a piece of furniture and it took a week to dry. It was the perfect colour but the paint was shit. I like Little green no dramas with their paint, good coverage and a great finish - but you can’t always get the shade you need. I only ever regret the wrong tone in a room.

I haven't painted my room a dark colour but painted my room a really bright colour and everyone was telling me not to. Go for the colour you love and you won't regret it (I don't)!

Yes and it’s beautiful

No regrets on our dark, dark lounge. Had it for 4 years now and still love it, we have loads of plants and lamps and it looks awesome.

v slight regrets painting our stairs almost black, again it looks lovely, but….the dust!

i have dark green and love it. Only problem is - the dust that shows up on it! I’ve had to repaint 4 times in as many years but we have been doing extensive renovations which will obviously create a lot more dust than normal.

We finally took the plunge and went for dark in November - we'd always been neutral and just used accessories for colour but we have a burgundy leather Chesterfield and I got fed up of having burgundy rugs and accessories and went out and bought some navy blue and painted our room and loved it from the second the first swipe of navy blue left the roller!
We've got a double aspect living room with a lot of light in the day but when dusk hits or on gloomy days, we get the lamps on and the room is so cosy - I agree with another PP - if you love a colour, then go for it - worst case scenario is it won't work and you'll have to paint over it again, but it's so worth that initial try.
I wanted our room to have a rich, Victorian style and I don't think I'd have achieved it, if I'd stuck to my safe light neutrals - be brave - go for it and I bet you'll love it

My front room is painted in farrow and ball vardo (a dark teal) which I love. I’ve kept the ceiling and skirting white though. I think a dark ceiling can close a room too much. The room is north east facing so doesn’t get any sun. It really works.
