Hi! We are a family of young professionals with a 7-month-old baby, and we currently live in Belsize Park in a 1 bedroom. This area is too expensive for us now, so we have to move and we are looking for an area where we could get a nice 2 bedroom for < £2400. Ideally should be a family-friendly, safe, and vibrant area. We have considered Crouch End and Walthamstow, do you have any experience in these areas? Any other recommendations?

Hiya, well the first question is how long will you be staying in London - do you plan to stay into school years, and if so will it be private or state? As you will want to think about what primary school options are available if you will still be here in 4 ish years time.

Appreciate you will be renting so not too difficult to move near school time, but ideally it would be good to stay in the same area you don’t want to build up a friend network now and then have to move areas and leave your friends.

I am not so familiar with N London but I hear good things about Crouch End, also Stoke Newington for young families. Alexandra Palace is further out but also looks good.

What is your commute like - where do you both need to get to and how many days a week?

Muswell Hill
Alexandra Palace
East Finchley
Crouch End

All lovely for families. I have a two bed in this area in your budget

HI! Thanks for replying, yes It ideally would be a place where we could stay long term and buy in the future. We work both in Westminster/London bridge area.

Oh sorry I don't have it for rent I mean I stay myself in a place that would fit your budget

hi OP, I'm interested in this thread so just commenting to stay alert. I'm not looking to rent but to learn about areas in north london that are good for family. I read Muswell Hill is great for families! But only certain areas of it.

Can anyone suggest whereabouts in Muswell Hill, Alexandra Palace, East Finchley, Crouch End are best? I read in other threads that, for example, only some parts of East Finchley are "nice", other parts are rougher.
